Edwina Etheridge is an emerging Australian painter, currently based near Byron Bay. Originally from Sydney, she spent over a decade living and working in England, travelling extensively throughout Europe.
She studied at the National Art School in Sydney before completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW.
Edwina’s practice is primarily focused on oil painting. Expressive brushwork and fluid, gestural mark-making form the foundation of her work. Drawing primarily from photographic references, she uses figurative imagery as a point of departure, transforming visual references through an intuitive process of abstraction and reinvention. Colour becomes a tool for reinterpretation, allowing familiar forms to emerge in new and unexpected ways.
